ABOUT ROSE ALLEY PRESS

Rose Alley Press was founded on November 17, 1995, by Seattle-based poet and essayist, David D. Horowitz. It has three focuses: publishing and promoting books of Pacific Northwest poetry, with an emphasis on rhymed metrical verse; educating the reading public about composition and publication; and organizing and hosting literary readings in and around Seattle. The name “Rose Alley” derives from the alley in London where, on the night of December 18, 1679, the celebrated poet, dramatist, and translator John Dryden was nearly beaten to death. Dryden survived the assault and wrote even more boldly than before.

David D. Horowitz founded and manages Rose Alley Press. His work has appeared in many journals and anthologies, including Raven Chronicles, Terrain.org, The Lyric, The Sporting News, Better Than Starbucks, Exterminating Angel, The Asses of Parnassus, Candelabrum, Coffee Poems, and Sparks of Calliope. His most recent poetry collection is Slow Clouds over Rush Hour. In 2023 he edited Purr and Yowl, a poetry anthology about cats published by World Enough Writers. David organizes and emcees many literary readings in and around Seattle.
